The Kottiyoor Reserve Forest, also known as the Kottiyoor Wildlife Sanctuary, is located in the eastern hilly areas of the Kannur district in Kerala.
Established as a wildlife sanctuary in 2011, it spans over 30,379 hectares and is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The sanctuary is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including Asian elephants, tigers, leopards, gaur, Sambar deer, and numerous bird species like the Malabar grey hornbill and the Nilgiri wood pigeon.
The Bavali River, a tributary of the Valapattanam River, flows through the sanctuary, adding to its scenic beauty. The sanctuary's terrain includes evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests, and grasslands, providing various habitats for the abundant wildlife.
