One of the most famous legends is the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) mentioned in the Puranas. It is believed that the gods used this hill as a churning rod, with the holy snake Basuki Nag serving as the rope. The hill is also significant in Jainism, as it is believed to be the place where the 12th Tirthankara, Vasupujya, attained nirvana. The hill features both Jain and Hindu temples, with the Jain temples dedicated to Vasupujya and the Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
Visitors can enjoy trekking to the top of the hill, where they can explore the temples and enjoy the scenic views. The area also has a holy pond called Paapharni, which is believed to have rejuvenating properties.
