Mundargi Fort
Mundargi Fort in Gadag, Karnataka, is a historic hill fort located on a prominent stone hill near the town of Mundargi. The fort area features crumbling walls, bastions, and gateways, along with a few temples such as the Kanaka Narasimha Temple and a Shivalinga temple.
The hill also has a water tower that stands almost as tall as the hill itself. Unfortunately, the fort is in a dilapidated condition due to ongoing stone quarrying and plundering, which have caused significant damage to its structure.
There is little documented information about when or who built the fort, and it is mostly overlooked as a monument today. The site offers a glimpse of local history intertwined with the town's name origin, which is linked to the hill itself, sometimes referred to as Murudagiri, meaning 'Hill of Lord Shiva'.
