It is known as the "Garden of Heaven" and features a moist deciduous forest setting with a 134-acre lake called Kanjia Lake. Established in 1960 and opened to the public in 1979, it is the first zoo in India to be a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).
