The Saptashrungi Devi Temple, located near Vani village in Nashik district, Maharashtra, is one of the three and a half Shakti Peethas in the state and one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Saptashrungi, who is believed to reside on seven mountain peaks (Sapta means seven and Shrungi means peak). The temple is situated at an altitude of 1,230 meters and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
The temple is a two-storied structure built in front of a natural cave, which serves as the sanctum. The idol of the goddess is self-manifested (Swayambhu) and carved on a rock face in the cave. The idol is about 10 feet tall with 18 arms, each holding a divine weapon. The goddess is always adorned with jewelry, silk clothes, and sindoor.
