National Institute of Fashion Technology, Srinagar (NIFT Srinagar), located in Ompora, Budgam, near Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, is a constituent campus of the NIFT network established in 2016 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
It functions from a 16.5‑acre permanent campus in a green, hilly setting, having started earlier from a temporary site at Rangreth, and offers modern academic and residential facilities including smart classrooms, design studios, a library, hostels, and sports grounds.
The institute runs undergraduate programmes such as B.Des in Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion and Lifestyle Accessory, and Textile Design, along with a postgraduate Master in Fashion Management, with admissions through the national NIFT entrance exam.
NIFT Srinagar blends fashion‑design education with a strong emphasis on Kashmir’s traditional handloom and handicraft heritage, working closely with the J&K and Ladakh governments to revive and promote local crafts, while preparing students for careers in textile, apparel, and lifestyle industries.
