National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT Srinagar), located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, is a premier public technical university established in 1960 as one of India's Regional Engineering Colleges during the Second Five-Year Plan.
It gained Institute of National Importance status in 2007 under the NIT Act and operates directly under the Ministry of Education, offering undergraduate admissions via JEE Main while providing B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs across 12 departments in engineering, applied sciences, humanities, and more, all taught in English.
