The National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand (NIT-Uttarakhand), located in Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal along the banks of the Alaknanda River, is a public technical university established in 2009 as one of India's newer NITs under an Act of Parliament. Recognized as an Institute of National Importance, it began admitting students for BTech programs in 2010-11 through JEE Main, offering undergraduate degrees in fields like Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering, alongside MTech via GATE and PhD programs in engineering, sciences, and humanities. Led by Director Prof. Karunesh Kumar Shukla, the government institute fosters technical education and research in a scenic Himalayan setting about 100 km from Haridwar and Rishikesh.
