Tourist Attraction
Nishat Suth
Nishat Bagh, also known as the "Garden of Bliss," is the second-largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley, after Shalimar Bagh. It was designed and built in 1633 by Asif Khan, the elder brother of Nur Jahan, and is located on the eastern side of Dal Lake with the Zabarwan Mountains as its backdrop.
The garden features twelve terraces, each representing a zodiac sign, adorned with beautiful flowers and a central water channel that enhances its charm. Emperor Shah Jahan was so impressed by its beauty that he expressed his admiration multiple times.
The garden follows a Persian architectural style but was adapted to fit the topography of Kashmir, resulting in a rectangular layout rather than the traditional square design.
