Okhla Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Okhla Bird Sanctuary, is located at the entrance of Noida in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, where the Yamuna River enters Uttar Pradesh from Delhi. Established in 1990, it covers about 4 square kilometers and is one of the 15 bird sanctuaries in the state.
The sanctuary features a large lake created by damming the Yamuna, surrounded by wetlands and grasslands, providing a habitat for over 320 bird species including resident and migratory waterbirds such as shoveller ducks, northern pintails, teals, and various woodland birds. It is an important stopover for migratory birds and hosts threatened species.
Due to urban development around it, the sanctuary has faced habitat pressure but remains a popular destination for bird watchers and nature lovers, offering peaceful walks, wildlife photography, and educational opportunities.
