Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary, located about 50 kilometers from Warangal city in Telangana, surrounds Pakhal Lake, a man-made reservoir built in 1213 AD by Kakatiya King Ganapati Deva. Spanning approximately 839 square kilometers, the sanctuary features diverse habitats including dry deciduous and mixed teak forests, providing refuge to a wide variety of animals such as leopards, tigers, sloth bears, hyenas, wild boars, and numerous bird species including migratory birds.
