Pandavgad
Pandavgad Fort, located near Wai in the Satara district of Maharashtra, was built in the 12th century by King Bhoj II of the Shilahara dynasty. It was later controlled by the Adilshahi rulers before being captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1673 and included in the Maratha Swarajya.
The fort changed hands several times, falling to Aurangzeb in 1701 and later reclaimed by Shahu Maharaj. Known for its strategic importance, the fort features high defense walls, water tanks, temples dedicated to Pandjai Devi and Maruti, and remnants of ancient sculptures and grinding wheels.
