Patna Bird Sanctuary
Patna Bird Sanctuary, located in Etah district, Uttar Pradesh, is the smallest bird sanctuary in the state, covering about 1.09 square kilometers. Established in 1991, it is centered around a lentic lake that serves as an important wintering ground for a diverse array of migratory and resident birds.
During the winter months, around 200,000 birds across approximately 300 species visit the sanctuary, including ducks, geese, cranes, storks, eagles, and various waterfowl. The lake is surrounded by rich vegetation such as water hyacinth and Potamogeton species, which supports the abundant avifauna.
The sanctuary offers a peaceful environment ideal for birdwatching and attracts nature enthusiasts especially between December and March when bird activity is at its peak. It is located near the town of Jalesar and is accessible by road and rail from nearby cities like Agra and Aligarh.
