The Patna Museum, also known as the Jadu Ghar, is the state museum of Bihar. Founded on April 3, 1917, during the British Raj, it was established to house historical artifacts found in the vicinity of Patna.
The museum is constructed in the style of Mughal and Rajput architecture and is known locally as the Jadu Ghar1. It showcases a wide range of exhibits, including archaeological objects, coins, art objects, paintings, instruments, textiles, thankas, bronze images, and sculptures by Hindu and Buddhist artists.
The museum also has a rare collection of British-period paintings depicting day-to-day life and a fine collection related to the first President of India, Rajendra Prasad1. One of its most prized possessions was the Didarganj Yakshi statue, which has since been moved to the Bihar Museum.
The museum continues to be a treasure trove of historical and cultural artifacts, offering visitors a captivating journey through Bihar's rich heritage.
