Pherzawl

Pherzawl is a village and the headquarters of Pherzawl district in the southwestern part of Manipur, India. The district was created in 2016 by carving it out from the Churachandpur district, with Pherzawl serving as the administrative center.

Located at an elevation of about 1,037 meters (around 3,400 feet) above sea level, the area is characterized by rugged hills, rivers, and streams, forming a scenic and geographically complex terrain. It shares borders with Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Noney, and Jiribam districts of Manipur, as well as the states of Assam and Mizoram.

The climate is humid subtropical with moderately fertile soil that supports agriculture, which is the main occupation, growing crops like rice, maize, and ginger. The village itself had a population of about 1,558 people as of 2011, with a literacy rate higher than the state average (around 85.75%).

The official language spoken locally includes Hmar, and the area is connected to the rest of Manipur by road, including National Highway 150. Pherzawl holds cultural and administrative importance as the district's headquarters and is a gateway to the surrounding hilly regions.
