Prag Mahal Palace
Prag Mahal, located in Bhuj, Kachchh (Kutch), Gujarat, is a 19th-century palace renowned for its unique architectural style. Commissioned by Rao Pragmalji II in 1865, the palace was designed by Colonel Henry St Clair Wilkins in an Italian Gothic style with a touch of Indo-Saracenic Revival. It was completed in 1879 during the regency of Khengarji III, Pragmalji II's son.
The palace is constructed using Italian marble and sandstone from Rajasthan, featuring a grand Durbar Hall adorned with chandeliers, Corinthian pillars, and classical statues.
Visitors can also climb the 45-foot-high clock tower for panoramic views of Bhuj. Despite damage from the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, the palace has been restored and remains a significant historical and cultural landmark.
