The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama in Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra, is a significant center for social service and education in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. Established in 1931, the Ashrama has been dedicated to the welfare of the local tribal communities, providing education, healthcare, and various other services.

The Ashrama runs numerous schools, including 16 lower primary schools, 11 upper primary schools, 17 secondary schools, and 5 higher secondary schools, catering to thousands of tribal students across the state.

In addition to educational institutions, the Ashrama operates a charitable dispensary, two mobile medical units, a computer training center, and a weaving and tailoring school.

The Ashrama also organizes health awareness camps, medical camps, and relief activities to support the local community. The center's efforts have been recognized and praised by many eminent personalities, including the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who donated funds and laid the foundation stone for the central administrative office building in 1952.
