Saha Burj
Shah Burj, also known as Musamman Burj, is an elegant octagonal tower located within the Agra Fort complex in Uttar Pradesh. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan between 1630 and 1640 AD, this marble structure was originally intended for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. However, it later became the place where Shah Jahan spent his final days after being imprisoned by his son, Aurangzeb.
The tower offers a breathtaking view of the Taj Mahal, allowing the emperor to gaze upon his masterpiece from a distance. The architecture of Shah Burj is a fine example of Mughal craftsmanship, featuring intricate marble inlay work, ornamental niches, and latticed screens that allowed royal women to observe the outside world without being seen.
The floor of the chamber is designed to resemble a traditional pachisi board, adding to its historical charm. The tower is topped with a gilded dome, making it a striking feature of the fort.
