Santhigiri Ashram, located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a world-renowned spiritual center founded by Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru in 1964. One of the key attractions at the ashram is the Lotus Parnasala, a striking monument in the shape of a blooming lotus.
The Lotus Parnasala serves as the final resting place of the Guru. Completed in 2010, this sacred monument was conceived through inner visions by Sishyapoojitha Amritha Jnana Thapaswini, the spiritual head of Santhigiri Ashram, and is the biggest of its kind in the world.
The structure stands majestically at 91 feet high, with a diameter of 84 feet, and is constructed using over 100,000 square feet of milky white Makrana marble—the same marble that was used for the Taj Mahal. The design includes both outer and inner pillars, and the roof features 12 top petals and 9 bottom petals, symbolizing the zodiac signs and planets.
