Santragachhi Lake

Santragachhi Lake, located beside the Santragachhi railway station in Howrah, West Bengal, is a significant freshwater lake covering about 12 to 13 hectares. It is well-known as a seasonal habitat for many migratory birds, especially during winter months, attracting birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.

The lake has several small islands, making it an ideal spot for observing diverse avian species, including trans-Himalayan migrants. Historically, the lake has been an important ecological and social site for the local community, offering fishing and recreational opportunities.
