Shahi Kangri
Shahi Kangri is a prominent mountain peak in the Leh district of Ladakh, located in the Shyok catchment area west of Aksai Chin. It stands at an impressive height of 6,934 meters (22,749 feet) above sea level, making it one of the significant peaks in the Transhimalaya range.
The peak has a prominence of 1,644 meters and lies in a remote, high-altitude region known for its challenging terrain and extreme weather conditions. The mountain remained unclimbed for many years, with a notable successful ascent by an Indian Army expedition led by Colonel Shivesh Singh in June 2022.
This expedition aimed to test human limits and promote high-altitude adventure in Ladakh. The area around Shahi Kangri is strategically significant and environmentally harsh, with breathtaking panoramic views of surrounding peaks, including parts of the Karakoram Range.
