The Sher Shah Suri Tomb is a magnificent mausoleum located in Sasaram, Rohtas district, Bihar. Built in memory of Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Suri Empire, the tomb is an outstanding example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The tomb stands in the middle of an artificial lake, covering an area of 22 acres.
It is often referred to as the "second Taj Mahal" due to its grandeur and beauty.
The tomb was designed by the architect Mir Muhammad Aliwal Khan and was completed in 1545, shortly after Sher Shah Suri's death. The structure is a three-storied octagonal building, topped by a large dome, and surrounded by ornamental domed kiosks. The tomb is accessible via a wide stone bridge, adding to its picturesque setting.
