Sri Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in New Delhi is one of the most prominent Sikh places of worship in India, renowned for its spiritual aura, golden dome, and serene Sarovar. Originally the bungalow of Raja Jai Singh in the 17th century, it became a sacred site after Guru Har Krishan, the eighth Sikh Guru, stayed there in 1664.
During a devastating outbreak of smallpox and cholera, Guru Har Krishan offered aid and healing to the afflicted, and the water from the well he used is still believed to have curative properties. This water now fills the Sarovar, where devotees often take a symbolic dip. The Gurudwara is open 24 hours a day and welcomes people of all faiths.
Inside, the prayer hall resonates with the soulful recitation of Gurbani, while the Langar Hall serves free meals to thousands daily, prepared and served by volunteers.
