Sri Bhramaramba Shakti Peeth Temple, Srisailam

The Sri Bhramaramba Shakti Peeth Temple in Srisailam, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhramaramba, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati.

This temple is one of the 18 Shakti Peethas, making it a significant pilgrimage site for devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace. The temple is situated within the complex of the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, which houses a Jyotirlinga, making Srisailam unique as it is one of the few places in India that has both a Shakti Peetha and a Jyotirlinga.

The temple's architecture is stunning, with intricate carvings and majestic entrance towers that create a divine atmosphere. Inside the temple, the idol of Goddess Bhramaramba is depicted with eight arms, adorned in a silk sari, and is worshipped as Brahmani Shakti.

The temple also features a Sri Yantra in front of the garbha griha (sanctum sanctorum), adding to its spiritual significance. According to legend, Goddess Bhramaramba took the form of Bhramari or Bhramarambika to protect the gods from the demon Arunasura, who had received a boon that he could not be killed by any two or four-legged beings.

The goddess created thousands of six-legged bees that ultimately defeated the demon. This legend highlights the protective and nurturing aspect of the goddess, who is also known as the "Mother of Bees." Visitors to the temple can experience inner peace and spirituality amidst the serene and picturesque surroundings of Srisailam.

The temple is open to devotees from 4:30 AM to 10:00 PM daily, and there is no entry fee. It is recommended to plan the visit in advance, especially during peak pilgrimage seasons, and to book accommodation early due to limited options in the area.
