Sri Eguva Ahobila Narasimha Swamy Temple, also known as Upper Ahobilam, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Located in Ahobilam, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, this temple is the main and earliest of the nine Narasimha temples in the region.
The temple is situated at an elevation of 2,800 feet above sea level and requires an arduous trek to reach from the foothills.
The temple's sanctum is a low-roofed cave, and the idol of Lord Narasimha is believed to be self-manifested (Swayambu). The presiding deity, Ahobila Narasimha Swamy, is depicted in a fierce form, tearing apart the demon king Hiranyakasipu. The temple complex includes various mandapams (halls) and shrines dedicated to other deities.
