Sri Vedapureeswarar Temple, also known as Vedapureeswarar Temple, is a historic Hindu temple located in Puducherry. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped as Vedapureeswarar, and Goddess Parvati, who is worshipped as Tripurasundari.
The temple is constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture and features a seven-tiered rajagopuram (gateway tower) that rises to a height of 75 feet.
The temple has a rich history and was originally built in the 18th century. It was demolished by French troops during religious riots in 1748 but was later reconstructed in 1788 with the help of public contributions and the efforts of Dewan Kandappa Mudaliar. The temple is known for its beautiful carvings, intricate stone pillars, and serene atmosphere.
