The church was built between 1860 and 1862 by an Irish priest named Rev. Fr. William Gleeson. The construction was completed and blessed by Bishop Anastasius Hartmann.
The church's architecture is quite unique, with the upper portion built in the shape of a crescent, topped by a tall column with a giant cross. In front of the crescent stands a statue of Jesus Christ with his arms wide open. The prayer hall is located on the first floor and is spacious, with pews on either side.
