The State Botanical Garden in Cuttack, Odisha, is a sprawling garden located inside the Nandankanan Wildlife Sanctuary. Established in 1963, it covers an area of 75 hectares and is one of the pioneering plant conservation and nature education centers in the state.
The garden is home to a diverse range of plant species, including 24 different satellite gardens such as the Japanese Garden, Mughal Garden, Dry Garden, Evolution Garden, Heritage Garden, Landscape Garden, Palm Garden, Bougainvillea Garden, Hibiscus Garden, Carnivorous Plant Garden, Bonsai Garden, and more.
One of the highlights of the garden is the Butterfly Park, which features a unique landscape with 6400 butterfly-dependent plants and more than 81 species of butterflies. The park also includes a cascading waterfall, fountains, and artistic bridges. Another popular attraction is the Rosarium, which houses nearly 1200 rose plants belonging to 55 varieties.
The garden also boasts the largest orchid house in the state, displaying more than 1000 orchids of 57 varieties.
