Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, also known as Keetham Lake, is located about 30 kilometers from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on the Delhi-Agra Highway. Originally created as an artificial reservoir to supply water to Agra, it naturally evolved into a rich ecosystem supporting over 160 species of resident and migratory birds. The sanctuary extends over 7.97 square kilometers with a large central lake and several man-made islands that provide nesting and breeding grounds for birds. It is also notable for the Agra Bear Rescue Facility, which rehabilitates rescued sloth bears that were once used as "dancing bears."
Declared a National Bird Sanctuary in 1991 and recognized as a Ramsar wetland site in 2020, Sur Sarovar offers opportunities for birdwatching, wildlife observation, and nature walks, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and tourists.
