Udai Sagar Lake, located about 13 kilometers east of Udaipur in Rajasthan, is one of the five famous lakes of the city. It was built by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1565 by constructing a dam on the Berach River to provide water for his kingdom. The lake spans about 4 kilometers in length and 2.5 kilometers in width, with a depth of around 9 meters. Historically, it has witnessed significant events, including a meeting between Maharana Pratap and Man Singh, which led to the Battle of Haldighati.
The lake has faced pollution issues due to surrounding industries and urban waste, but restoration efforts are ongoing under the National Lake Conservation Program. Visitors enjoy boat rides, birdwatching, and exploring ancient temples around the lake, making it a peaceful and culturally rich retreat.
