Utkantheshwar Mahadev
Tourist Attraction
Utkantheshwar Mahadev
Utkantheshwar Mahadev is an ancient Shiva temple located near Kapadvanj in Kheda district, Gujarat, situated on the banks of the Vatrak River.
The temple is believed to be over 2,000 years old, and legend states that it was once the ashram of Sage Jabali Rishi, who pleased Lord Shiva through his penance. The Shivlinga here is unique, being small and ball-shaped, and it is said that there were originally seven Shivlingas, but only one remains today.
The temple complex features 25 small Shiva shrines and a stairway with 108 steps leading to the Vatrak River. Devotees believe that water and milk offered to the Shivlinga flow underground and merge with the river.
The temple is particularly crowded during Shravan month and Maha Shivratri, when fairs and religious gatherings take place. Visitors can also enjoy camel rides near the river.
