Inside the fort, you'll find the magnificent Jalakanteswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is famous for its intricate carvings and stunning architecture. The temple is surrounded by water, giving it the name Jalakanteswarar, meaning "Lord Shiva residing in water".

The fort also houses St. John's Church, a mosque, and several palaces like Tippu Mahal, Hyder Mahal, and Begam Mahal. The Vellore Fort played a significant role in history, witnessing events like the Vellore Mutiny of 1806, which was the first significant military rebellion against British rule in India.

Today, the fort is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and is a popular tourist destination.
