Top Wildlife Sanctuaries of India You Need To Know

A Sanctuary is an area reserved for the conservation of animals only. Wild Life Sanctuaries are also dedicated to protect wildlife. But in Wild Life Sanctuaries, main emphasis is given particularly on the conservation of species.

In the Sanctuary, killing, hunting or capturing of any species of bird, mammal is prohibited. Operations such as harvesting of timber, collection of minor forest/products and private ownership rights are allowed only to such an extent that it do not effect the Wild life.

There are at present 492 Sanctuaries in India. Some important ones are given in the list.
