Bankura district is located in the state of West Bengal, India. It is situated in the western part of the state and is known for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and natural beauty. Bankura town is the district headquarters.

Bankura district is bordered by Purulia district to the west, Paschim Medinipur district to the south, Bardhaman district to the east, and Birbhum district to the north. The district covers an area of approximately 6,882 square kilometers and has a population of over 3.6 million people.
