Diu is a district located in the union territory of Daman and Diu, India. Daman and Diu used to be a single union territory until October 31, 2019, when it was bifurcated into two separate entities: the district of Daman and the district of Diu. Both districts are located on the western coast of India, with Diu specifically situated on an island in the Arabian Sea.

Diu has a rich history that dates back to the ancient times. It was ruled by various dynasties, including the Mauryas, Guptas, Chalukyas, and the Portuguese. The Portuguese influence is particularly evident in the architecture and culture of the region.
