Hojai is a district located in the northeastern state of Assam, India. It is situated in the central part of the state and falls under the administrative division of Nagaon. Hojai district was officially formed on 1st June 2016 when it was carved out of the existing Nagaon district.

The district is named after the town of Hojai, which serves as its administrative headquarters. Hojai town is located on the southern bank of the river Kapili. It is well-connected to other major cities in Assam by road and rail networks.
