Jharsuguda district is located in the state of Odisha, India. It is situated in the western part of the state and is known for its industrial and mining activities.
Jharsuguda was formerly a part of Sambalpur district and became a separate district on 1st April 1994. The district derives its name from the word "Jhar" meaning "bushes" and "Suguda" meaning "good smell." The district covers an area of approximately 2,081 square kilometers.
