Karauli district is located in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is situated in the eastern part of the state and is known for its rich history, culture, and heritage. The district headquarters is the town of Karauli, which is also the largest town in the district.

Karauli district has a total area of approximately 5,530 square kilometers and is bordered by the districts of Dholpur to the north, Sawai Madhopur to the west, Dausa to the northwest, and Bharatpur to the northeast. The Yamuna River forms the eastern boundary of the district.
