Mahisagar district is located in the state of Gujarat, India. It was carved out of the Kheda district in 2013. The district headquarters is in Lunavada, which is also the largest town in the district. Mahisagar is bordered by Panchmahal district to the north, Kheda district to the west, and Dahod district to the east.

The district is named after the Mahi River, which flows through the region. Mahisagar is known for its picturesque landscapes, including hills, forests, and rivers. It is predominantly a rural district with agriculture being the primary occupation of the local population. Major crops grown in the region include cotton, groundnut, maize, and wheat.
