Palnadu is a district in Andhra Pradesh, created on April 4, 2022, carved out of the former Guntur district, with Narasaraopet as its administrative headquarters. Historically, Palnadu is renowned for the Battle of Palnadu (~1182 CE), fought between rival factions of the Haihaya dynasty, a conflict immortalized in Telugu folklore and literature such as the Palnati Vira Charitra.

The battle, sometimes called the "Andhra Kurukshetra," involved bitter warfare between the forces of Brahma Naidu and Nalagama Raju, significantly weakening regional powers and paving the way for the rise of the Kakatiya dynasty. Geographically, Palnadu features a mix of low hills, rocky terrain, and agricultural plains, with the Krishna River and its canal systems providing vital irrigation for the region.

The district is known for its mineral deposits like limestone and granite, particularly around Macherla and Dachepalli. The population is predominantly rural, with agriculture as the main livelihood.
