The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber who drove an explosive-laden vehicle into a convoy of vehicles carrying the security personnel.
The convoy was traveling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident led to a tense situation between India and Pakistan, with India accusing Pakistan of supporting terrorist organizations operating in the region.
