Sivasagar district is located in the state of Assam, India. It is named after the historic town of Sivasagar, which served as the capital of the Ahom Kingdom. The district is situated in the eastern part of Assam and is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance.

Sivasagar district covers an area of approximately 2,668 square kilometers and is bordered by the districts of Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Charaideo, and Lakhimpur. The district is divided into several administrative subdivisions and comprises numerous towns and villages.
