The Akhnoor Fort is a historic fort located on the right bank of the Chenab River, about 28 km from Jammu City in Jammu and Kashmir. The fort was constructed between 1762 and 1802 by Raja Tej Singh and later completed by his successor Raja Dhian Singh. It is known for its impressive architecture, including high fortification walls with bastions and two-storeyed watch-towers at the corners.
The fort has two parts separated by a wall, with a gate leading to the palace on the southern side. The palace features decorated arches and mural paintings. The fort also has historical significance as it was the site where Maharaja Gulab Singh was crowned by Maharaja Ranjit Singh on June 17, 1822.
