Ana Sagar Lake
Ana Sagar Lake is an artificial lake located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, built between 1135 and 1150 AD by Arnoraja (also known as Anaji Chauhan), the grandfather of the legendary ruler Prithviraj Chauhan. Spanning over 13 kilometers, the lake was created by damming the Luni River to serve as a water reservoir for the city.
The lake is surrounded by the beautifully landscaped Daulat Bagh gardens, constructed by Mughal Emperor Jahangir, and features several marble pavilions (Baradari) built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1637. A small island in the center of the lake can be reached by boat, offering visitors scenic views, especially during sunset.
The lake plays a vital role in Ajmer's water system, although it tends to dry up during summer months, and it remains a popular spot for boating and leisurely strolls, blending historical significance with natural beauty.
