Anandbag Botanical Garden
Anandbag Botanical Garden is part of the Anand Bagh Palace, also known as Lakshmivilas Palace, located in Darbhanga, Bihar. The palace was constructed in the 1880s during the reign of Maharaja Lakshmeshwar Singh, and its extensive gardens were designed by English botanist Charles Maries, who was recommended by Sir Joseph Hooker.
The gardens once featured rare plant species such as branched palms with multiple branches, Rudraksha, sandalwood, mahogany, and many orchids, making them well-known even in England at the time. Though the grandeur of the gardens has diminished over the years, they remain a historic and scenic part of the palace grounds, which now house the Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University.
