Historical Landmark
Anasagar Baradari
The Anasagar Baradari, located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, is a set of five marble pavilions built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1637. These pavilions, locally known as Baradari, are situated on the embankment of Anasagar Lake, which was originally constructed by Arnoraja, the grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan, between 1135 and 1150 AD.
The Baradari pavilions were designed for relaxation and leisure, offering stunning views of the lake and the surrounding landscape. The largest of these pavilions is built in the style of the Diwan-e-Khas (private audience hall) in the Red Fort, Delhi. During the British era, these pavilions were used as residences for the Commissioner of Ajmer and his officers, but they have since been restored to their original condition.
The area around the lake also features the Daulat Bagh garden, which was laid out by Emperor Jahangir and served as a royal pleasure garden. The Baradari pavilions and the Daulat Bagh garden together create a picturesque and historically significant site that attracts tourists and visitors.
