Arjungad Fort, also known as Bagwada Fort, is located near Vapi in Valsad district of Gujarat. Built during the Peshwa period by Chimajiappa, the fort served as a defensive structure to monitor and protect the region, especially overseeing the Kolak River nearby.
The rectangular fort features four bastions on its corners and is fortified on three sides, with the fourth side opening towards the river. It has an entrance with intact guard rooms, a large square water tank carved out of stone, and a temple dedicated to Goddess Mahalaxmi, which is still actively visited by locals.
The fort offers panoramic views of surrounding forests, the railway line, Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway, and the Kolak River, making it a scenic and historically significant spot. Despite its relatively small size, it is well-preserved and surrounded by peaceful natural beauty, attracting visitors interested in heritage and trekking.
