The Arulmigu Parimala Ranganathar Thirukovil Divya Desam-26, also known as the Parimala Ranganathar Perumal Temple, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Located in Thiruvilandur, a town in the Mayiladuthurai district of Tamil Nadu, this temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams mentioned in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham by the 12 poet saints, or Alvars.
The temple is situated along the banks of the Kaveri River and is one of the Pancharanga Kshetrams. The temple is believed to have significant antiquity, with contributions from different periods, including the Medieval Cholas, Vijayanagara Empire, and Madurai Nayaks. The central shrine houses the presiding deity, Parimala Ranganathar, depicted in a reclining posture, facing east.
The consort of Parimala Ranganathar is Parimala Ranganayaki, also known as Chandrasaapa Vimochanavalli and Pudareekavalli. The sanctum also houses images of the river gods Cauvery and Ganga, as well as Santhanagopalakrishnan. According to Hindu legend, the place is where the moon god, Chandra, is believed to have been relieved of his curse.
The temple has six daily rituals and twelve yearly festivals on its calendar. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
