The Ashtoor Tombs, also known as the Bahmani Tombs, are a significant historical site located in Ashtoor village, near Bidar, Karnataka. These tombs serve as the final resting places of several rulers from the Bahmani Sultanate, which ruled much of the Deccan region from the 14th to the 16th century.
The tomb complex is a remarkable example of Indo-Islamic architecture, blending Persian, Turkish, and Indian influences.
The tombs are known for their grand scale, lofty domes, pointed arches, and intricate stucco and tile work. Among the most prominent is the tomb of Sultan Ahmad Shah Wali, which features beautifully painted floral and geometric patterns and glazed tiles.
Other notable tombs include those of Alauddin Shah II, Sultan Humayun, and Malika-i-Jahan, each showcasing unique architectural styles and embellishments.
