Baah Fort

Baah Fort, more commonly known as Agra Fort, is a majestic 16th-century fortress located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, built primarily by the Mughal Emperor Akbar starting in 1565. It was constructed on the site of an older fortification and took around eight years to complete, becoming the main residence of Mughal rulers and a seat of government when Agra was the empire's capital.

The fort is a striking example of Mughal architecture, made predominantly of red sandstone with later additions in white marble by subsequent emperors like Shah Jahan. Its massive crescent-shaped walls rise about 70 feet high, enclosing a complex often described as a "city within a city," which includes grand palaces, mosques, and audience halls. The fort has notable gates like the Delhi Gate and Amar Singh Gate, and features defensive designs such as a deep moat and robust bastions.

Throughout history, it witnessed important events including the coronation of Humayun and the imprisonment of Shah Jahan by his son Aurangzeb. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site admired for its blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural elements and remains a symbol of Mughal grandeur and power.
